Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Racebud (“we”) for using the Racebud app and website. By using Racebud you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
Ride safely — this comes first
Racebud times you over a line. It is not a race organiser, and a timer never makes a road, trail or track safe. You alone are responsible for how, where and when you ride.
- Obey traffic laws, speed limits, land-access rules and the rules of any venue.
- Never race on public roads open to traffic.
- Don’t look at or handle your phone while riding. Mount it or pocket it before you start.
- Wear appropriate protective gear and ride within your ability and the conditions.
- Only record lines where you have the right to be, and don’t invite others onto ones where they don’t.
Cycling, motorsport and other racing activities carry a real risk of injury or death. You take part at your own risk.
Timing accuracy
Lap times come from your phone’s GPS, which can drift, drop out or lag, especially under trees, between buildings or in bad weather. Times are for fun and friendly competition. They are not official results, and shouldn’t be relied on for anything where accuracy matters, such as prizes, bets or safety decisions. Results shown during and right after a race can change as every rider’s data reaches our servers.
Your account
Racebud creates an anonymous account on your phone when you first open it; you can sign in with Apple or Google to keep your races across devices. You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age in your country) to use Racebud. Keep your devices secure — you are responsible for activity on your account. You can delete it at any time from Profile → Delete account.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you create: tracks, rider name, photo and ride data. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process and display that content as needed to run Racebud — for example, to show your track and times to the riders in your races. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for lap times kept anonymously on other riders’ leaderboards as described in our Privacy Policy.
Don’t upload content you don’t have the right to share, or that is unlawful or offensive.
Fair play
You agree not to:
- spoof, fake or tamper with GPS or timing data;
- harass other riders or use a rider name or photo that impersonates someone or is offensive;
- attack, overload, reverse-engineer or scrape the service, or access it other than through the app;
- use Racebud for anything unlawful.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules, and will try to tell you why when we do.
Racebud Pro
Recording tracks, riding solo, lap timing, your history and joining other riders’ races are free. Racebud Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription that lets you host races other riders can join. Its price and billing period — monthly or yearly — are shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically at the same price and period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- If a free trial is offered and you take it, the subscription starts at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Any unused part of a trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Manage or cancel it at any time in your iPhone’s Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- Deleting the app or your Racebud account does not cancel the subscription. Cancel it with Apple first.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies; request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- If we change the price, Apple tells you before it applies, and asks for your consent where the law or Apple’s rules require it.
To use Pro on another phone, sign in to the same Apple ID and tap Restore purchases on the Racebud Pro screen.
The service
Racebud is provided “as is” and “as available”. We are improving it all the time, which means features may change or go away, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. We may stop offering Racebud; if we do, we’ll give reasonable notice where we can so you can export or delete your data.
Maps are built on open data. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for injury, death or damage arising from your riding or racing, however it relates to your use of Racebud. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Apple
If you got Racebud from the App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to maintain or support the app, is not responsible for any claims relating to it, and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms, entitled to enforce them against you. Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies.
Changes
We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. Continuing to use Racebud after a change means you accept the new terms.
